New month prayer

John 5:6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

Meet UNILAG Undergraduate Who Developed Wazobia Bible Application

INNOVATION: Meet UNILAG Undergraduate
Who Developed Wazobia Bible Application
Kayode Sowole, a 400-level Computer
Science student of University of Lagos who
won the ‘Best Student App’ for developing the
Wazobia Bible application which allows
people to read the bible in Pidgin, Hausa,
Igbo, Yoruba and all English translations
offline.
In this interview with Vanguard Learning, he
speaks on his inspiration for application
development. Excerpts.
TELL us about yourself.
12My name is Kayode Sowole. I am from
Sodeke town in Abeokuta, Ogun State. I am
currently a 400-level Computer Science
student of University of Lagos.
I am a highly motivated individual who
always enjoys a good challenge. My interest
in computing since my childhood has been a
major factor in helping me to develop my
programming skills that have led to my high
level of success in mobile app development.
I love developing web and mobile
applications. My leisure activities include
writing, travelling and listening to music.
When did you realise you wanted to become
an App developer?
I made the decision to become a mobile
application developer in my first year in
University of Lagos in 2010 after an online
video training on app development on
YouTube.
So what steps did you take?
I started by downloading and installing the
Java IDE, which the YouTube training had
recommended. I also got the Netbeans IDE
on my laptop. Then, I searched Google for
related e-books and downloaded them on
my laptop for references. From that moment,
I started building Java and Android apps. I
found my kicks in getting online to research
and learning new stuff about app
development.
What was the first app you developed?
The first app I developed is called the
Picpuzzle, a picture puzzle game that
requires the player to rearrange the items in
a picture in the proper order. I had fun
putting that one together.
Where did you get inspiration for the app you
created?
The Holy Spirit was the author of my
inspiration. The thinking behind the app was
that when God communicates with you in
your native language, it seems as if God is
from your town for Him to have been able to
talk to you.
It allows for a closer and deeper transaction
with the Almighty that is very native and
heartfelt. When you read the Yoruba Bible, it
seems as if God is a Yoruba man, which is
true because we are all copies of God’s
image. Language is very powerful.
If you want a people to lose their sense of
identity, all you need to do is to take their
language away from them. As such,
providing the word of God to people in a
language that they can understand is so
powerful and has a very good feeling.
The Wazobia Bible app, affords you the
opportunity to read God’s word in Pidgin,
Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba and all English
translations offline. It’s all about creating
value and opportunities for people to access
God’s word.
What were the high points of your
preparation?
The incorporation of the Bible into Bible
programming languages such as THML
(Theological Mark-up Language) and OSIS
(Open Scripture Information Standard) was
the most significant part of my preparation.
The Theological Markup Language is a new
markup language that is being used to mark
up texts for the Christian Classics Ethereal
Library and other projects.
This XML application can be thought of as
HTML with additions for electronic books and
rich digital libraries, with special support for
theological needs such as scripture
references and Strongs numberings.
Also the Open Scripture Information
Standard (OSIS) is an XML application (or
schema), that defines tags for marking up
Bibles, theological commentaries, and other
related literature. These are useful
languages I had to code with to develop the
app.
Did you know that you were going to win?
I was shocked when I received the news of
my win. Someone had called me to tell me I
won because I didn’t attend the presentation.
How do you feel about winning?
This is so comforting and assuring. I feel so
exhilarated. I’m so happy my hard work on
the app has really paid off. This is a reward
for the value I have tried to create by
opening up the word of God to reach more
people in a language they can understand
and appreciate.
How do you plan to maximize the platform
your victory has brought?
I intend to use social networking platforms
like Facebook and Twitter so as to reach out
to a lot of people.
Development of the app
Also the 6 month- promotion of the app
promised by MTN would help popularise the
app.
Could you take us through the start-up
process and its growth trajectory?
I started the project by compiling the Holy
Bible in Pidgin, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba and all
English translations in plain text format.
Next, I built the GUI (Graphical User
Interface) in Eclipse which made the project
about fifty percent ready. After that, I
developed the connection between the Bible
files and the core of the app. At this stage,
the project was seventy five percent
completed.
To complete the development of the app, I
introduced the reading of other documents
such as Bible in one year, Every day in the
word and other Christian books. I also made
a collection of 384 bible verses which will be
highlighted when reading the Bible. At the
end of this stage, Wazobia Bible app was
hundred per cent ready for use.
How have mobile users embraced the app
and what kind of numbers have you churned
out?
Wazobia Bible app has been downloaded
beyond my expectation. The app has had
over 2,800 downloads on MTN App Store.
Have you been able to monetize the
application?
No. It’s a free app for now.
How do you intend to deal with the
competition within the mobile industry?
I intend to introduce other features like
reading the Bible out in audio and in the
selected language such as Igbo, Hausa,
Yoruba and Pidgin.
How would you assess current level of local
mobile applications development?
I think local mobile applications development
is increasing rapidly and a few years from
now, the local mobile applications
development community would have
doubled.
MTN has launched the MTN NextApps store
for various platforms, how will this impact
the development of mobile applications and
related content for mobile uses ?
MTN NextApps store has definitely expanded
the reach of apps to various platforms which
will definitely improve mobile applications
development speedily because it will
encourage developers to port their apps to
several platforms.
Would you say Nigeria has the local capacity
to effectively support the growth and
development of mobile content and
applications?
Not at the moment. We have a lot of talented
students in Nigeria but most cannot even
afford a laptop. Even those who have laptops
have to use N100 from their pocket money
to get 10MB of data to browse. Only a few
can afford to fuel their generators because
there’s no light. As students, we need
laptops, data and electricity to effectively
support the growth and development of
mobile content and applications.
What advice would you have for the
government or corporate bodies in a bid to
strengthen the local mobile application
industry?
The government needs to make electricity
stable to strengthen the local mobile
application industry. Corporate bodies need
to divert the millions they give to music stars
for adverts to buy laptops for secondary
school students who just finished their WAEC
and are awaiting results.

Student Of OOU Who Disguised Himself As A Mad Man

EVIL:Student Of OOU Who Disguised Himself
As A Mad Man Just For Rituals, Caught In
Ibadan [Viewer Discretion]
It seems God is out to expose evil doers in
the ancient city of Ibadan, Oyo state. Just
less than a week after the Soka Ritual
Factory was discovered, two ritualists have
been discovered, in different areas in the
same Ibadan.
A source who was present at the first
location where the ritualist was paraded took
the pic above and those after the cut. He
also explained how the young man, yet to be
identified met his water-loo.
The photos after the cut are very graphic,
Viewer discretion is highly advised.
According to the ireporter , the incident
happened at Adebayo Hospital Road, off Ring
Road, Ibadan. The young man in question is
said to have paraded the area for sometime
now as a mad man, and was well known.
However, his cover blew when a resident
noticed an expensive blackberry phone with
him, and raised alarm, indicating that there
was more to the mentally deranged man than
meets the eye.
As a result, residents apprehended the
young man in question. He was searched
and an ID card, identifying him as a student
of Olabisi Onabanjo University was found on
him.
What raised more suspicion however was
that he had with him two expensive
blackberry phones, and another expensive
phone. They also found with him a list, which
after been tortured he confessed were his
clients whom he sold human parts to.
As expected the crowd descended
mercilessly on him. He was about to be set
ablaze when the police arrived and took him
away. See more photos below:
The incident happened around noon , and the
man was taken away about an hour later.
However, MDB had been recently informed
that the young man eventually gave up the
ghost and didn’t survive the lynching.
Similarly, another ritualist was paraded at
Oni and sons road also along ring road in the
same Ibadan, today. He is said to have been
found with a human tongue, but MBD’s
reporter was not present at the scene, and
little is know of the ritualist’s fate at the
moment.
Also, residents of Challenge-Iwo Road axis
woke up to the headless body of a young
man dumped by the roadside. A small riot is
said to have ensued afterwards as youths
took to the streets to protest the ritual
killings reported in Ibadan in the last one
week. Security personnel were however
dispatched to the area after reports got to
the governor of the state,
Gov. Ajimobi, and calm was restored.

Fashola writes Ghanaian Parliament over killing of Nigerian student

Fashola writes Ghanaian Parliament over
killing of Nigerian student

BY OLASUNKANMI AKONI
LAGOS—GOVERNOR Babatunde Fashola of Lagos,
yesterday, said he had e-mailed the Ghanaian
Parliament, requesting it to investigate the recent
killing of a Nigerian student in that country.
The governor made the statement in Ikeja, while
addressing some students who had come to protest
against the hike in Lagos State University, LASU,
fees.
The governor said the killing of the student was
unfortunate, noting that the case must not be
allowed to be swept under the carpet.
It will be recalled that Godwin Ayogu, a 300-level
Nigerian student of the Gold Coast University, was
recently murdered in Ghana by unknown persons.
His body was dumped by the roadside, while the
Ghanaian authorities were yet to begin any
investigation into the matter.
Fashola said: “The killing of a Nigerian in Ghana is
very unfortunate as he was a victim of very
mindless violence. I am trying to reach the
Ghanaian Parliament to see how we can intervene
to assist in the investigation of Godwin Ayogu’s
incident, who died at the Cape Coast University. I
sent an e-mail to one of the parliamentarians. I am
still expecting a feed back and hope the right steps
will be taken.”
Fashola also condemned the recent killing of
Adelabu Tunde, another Nigerian student in
Malaysia, describing his death as unfortunate.
The governor urged the relevant authorities to take
urgent steps to end the incessant killings of
Nigerian youths abroad.

NANS protests LASU fees in Lagos

NANS protests LASU fees in Lagos

Ikeja – The National Association of Nigerian
Students (NANS) on Monday staged a protest at
Government House, Ikeja against the hike in fees of
the Lagos State University (LASU).
About 200 of them stormed the governor’s office
chanting songs and carrying placards with various
inscriptions.
Some of the inscriptions read “Education is our
Right,’’ Fashola Reduce LASU fees’’ and “What have
the poor done wrong?’’.
Security details manning the governor’s office gate
had a hard time controlling the students as they
attempted to gain access to the Government House.
Gov. Babatunde Fashola, however, later ordered that
the protesters be allowed to come and express their
grievances.
On their entry, Sunday Ashefon, NANS South-West
Zone Coordinator, who led the protest, described
the increase in LASU fees from N25,000 to
N250,000 as prohibitive.
He said the increase had taken its toll on the
students of the institution as some of them had
dropped out because they could not afford to pay.
Ashefon described the situation as appalling, saying
Nigerian students want a reduction of the “arbitrary
fees’’.
“The fees are not just affordable; some of our
colleagues have opted out of LASU simply because
they cannot pay from N250, 000 to N350, 000
school fees.
“These prohibitively high fees are some of the
highest paid by any university in the country.
Children of the poor can no more attend LASU and
this is sad.
“What Nigerian students want therefore, is nothing
but reversal of the fees to the initial N25, 000. APC
as a political party promises change, we want that
change in LASU too,’’ he said.
Ashefon said the students were also worried about
the lingering Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics
and College of Education Academic Staff Union
strike.
He appealed for the governor’s intervention in
ending the crises.
Also speaking, Nurudeen Yusuf, LASU Student Union
President, noted that the hike in fees in the
institution had resulted in many problems in the
school.
He said that the hike had not only forced out some
students because they could not pay, it had also
resulted in falling standards.
“The glorious days of LASU are disappearing and
we can’t really see any justification for the new
fees,’’ he said.
Responding, Fashola said the decision of the state
government to increase fees was to reposition the
university and make it a centre of academic
excellence.
According to him, the N25, 000 paid before now by
students will not guarantee the kind of high quality
education they deserve to get.
He said that the fees were part of efforts to create a
university where the children of the poor and the
rich could learn and achieve together.
“It is not right to keep a university only for the
children of the poor. That doesn’t make a university
anymore.

CAN President Pastor Oritsejafor Explains Why Pastors Are Richer Than Their

REVEALED: CAN President Pastor Oritsejafor
Explains Why Pastors Are Richer Than Their
Members In Nigeria
President of the Christian Association of
Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor recently
bared his mind concerning the controversies
surrounding churches and their flamboyant
pastors.
When asked to explain why churches milk
the poor, the CAN president and Senior
pastor of Word of Life Bible Church, said “it
is cheap to criticise; even to criticise what
you don’t understand.
Let me put it this way, in every good people,
you would always find some bad people. The
church is the greatest institution that has
made the country today. If you look back,
you would find out that the church brought
education to Nigeria.”
Speaking further to Punch, he said “The
church brought hospital to Nigeria. I think the
church should be given credit for that. People
don’t understand what they say about the
church milking the poor. Can a poor man
have money to pay tithe? A man who has no
job, can he pay tithe? No, he won’t be able to
pay. So how do you milk a man who has no
milk? In a church, you have both the poor
and the rich. It is generally not the poor that
finance the church.
It is those with the means. A man, for
example, who earns N10,000, how much is
his tithe? His tithe is N1,000. A man who
earns N500,000, how much is his tithe? His
tithe is 10 per cent which is N50,000. How
much would you milk from a man who pays
a tithe of N1000?
“We won’t say things like this usually
because the church is a level-playing
ground. Whether you are poor or you are
rich, God sees everybody as equal. It is
because of a question like this that
sometimes, we have to take time to analyze
things. I even hear people say that the poor
give money to start schools, but their
children cannot go to the schools.
How will they give this money when they are
poor? The truth is that, the people who
actually give this money are those who have
the means to do so. Those people make it
possible for churches to start schools. Now
again, why do churches charge high fees in
school? You didn’t ask me that, but I’m just
throwing that in free. People must
understand that there is a standard.
“The church wants to maintain the standard.
In those days, some people will say that
when missionaries started school, it was
free. Don’t forget that those missionaries
were being financed from different places.
Who is financing us today? We are financing
ourselves. If I got free financing, why won’t
we make education free? You must also
understand that at the time, the cost of living
was not the way it is today.
The educational system of Nigeria is in
serious trouble, so we need to up the
standards. And to do that, you should be able
to hire the best hands. If you hire the best,
how do you pay them? Where do you get the
money to pay them? How do you put the
right infrastructure in place? How do you do
many of the things that need to be done?
How do you run the generators?”
On why there are so many poor people in
churches yet rich pastors, Oritsejafor who
recently completed an ultra modern 40,000
capacity church auditorium in Warri, Delta
State, explained, “Remember that the pastors
are pasturing both the poor and the rich.
They are all in the same assembly. Both the
poor and the rich, those who have the means
in the church take time to be kind to their
pastors. That is something most people don’t
realize.
They give their pastors money, food and
different things. For example, a member of
the church goes to his pastor and says, ‘I
feel led to give you a car. Take this car.’
Now the pastor has a car. Did he steal it? As
I sit here talking to you now, I can tell you
that I am training almost 100 people in
institutions of higher learning. Nobody is
going to broadcast that. On every 26th of
December, I organise what I call poverty
alleviation. I have been doing it now for about
eight years.”
Defending his aircraft and rift with Mallam
Nasir el-Rufai “I am glad that there are
people who challenged him. I would only be
dignifying him if a person at my level starts
exchanging words with a small person like
el-Rufai. He is too small. I will not dignify
him with a response. People responded.
They told him that since he knew who gave
the gift, he should provide the proof, which
he hasn’t done till today. Obviously, he didn’t
have any proof. That is the problem with
Nigeria. We continue to celebrate people like
el-Rufai. He is too small for me. I won’t
waste my time on him”.

SHOCKING: 2 Governors Will Die Before 2015 Ends

SHOCKING: 2 Governors Will Die Before
2015 Ends – Soul E Prophesies Again
The singer turned born-again prophet
received a lot of backlash over his initial
prophesy which gave a warning of doom
ahead for singers, Wizkid and Davido. Even
the seat of power, Aso rock could not escape
his fiery prophecy.
In a recent interview with Punch
Newspapers, he shed more light the vision
he says God revealed to him.
He said:
“I have always been in the public eye. My
marriage caused a scenario in this
country. I don’t know what people saw in
me. Anybody who feels I am seeking for
attention is making a serious mistake; I
am too busy for that. I am in Abuja at the
moment; I am heading to Lagos and Port
Harcourt before the end of the week. I am
busy. I am just doing the work of my
father.
It was my God who instructed me to give
the prophecy and I have done that. I am
not wishing anybody anything bad. All they
have to do is to pray. I have received calls
from Aso Rock. I got prophesies for
Wizkid, Davido and Aso Rock and I said
what God asked me to say. I told them to
pray. God doesn’t give you prophecy for
you to be scared but for you to be aware
and pray about it.
Asked why he didn’t call Wizkid and Davido
privately to intimate them of the prophecy
before making it public, Soul E answered:
They are not my friends and I don’t talk to
them. In fact, I have never seen them
before and I am not sure they know me. I
am not saying they are my enemies.
I had to go on Facebook and Instagram to
pass my messages. I have said what I
want to say and it is fine by me. If they
want to take it, fine and if they don’t want
to, that is not my problem. I am not a
pastor, I am a prophet. A prophet
announces his prophecies.
When asked if he was shown other things,
Soul E answered in the affirmative revealing
that two governors will die before the end of
2015 .
He told me two northern governors will go,
they will die before the end of 2015. This is
what God showed me. Prophets come to tell
you what God is saying about a situation.
Pastors will tell you ‘you are blessed,’
Prophets will tell you to be careful or tell you
not to marry the particular person you
wanted to marry because of the vision they
had seen.

The LAST THING a 3-year-old Syrian said before he died: “I’m gonna tell God everything

The LAST THING a 3-year-old
Syrian said before he died: “I’m
gonna tell God everything”
This massage is haunting and it’s been floating
around the World
The last sentence a 3-year-old Syrian said before
he died: “I’m gonna tell God everything”
And that’s equally haunting. It’s impossible to
verify but the picture tells a story about the pain
and suffering that exists in Syria right now. There
are many in the media who would like to say this
is because president Bashar al-Assad is a
ruthless killer. And that’s half true. Like other
government leaders – he has engaged in war and
with that war has come the death of tens of
thousands and the displacement of over 1 million
Syrians now living in refugee camps.
But this hasn’t always been the case. This is the
inevitable result of a covert war being waged by
the U.S., Israel and other Sunni countries like
Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Our interests in taking
down the Syrian dictator al-Assad are all about
geo-politics. If we take out Syria – we neuter
Iranian influence in the region. It has gotten so
bad that al-Qaeda is now fighting on the same side
as the United States government and Bashar al-
Assad and his government are fighting al-Qaeda.
And Syrians are all the victim of this massive
global covert proxy war.
It has gotten to the point where we don’t even
know if the chemical weapons that were used in
Syria were the result of al-Qaeda or the Syrian
government. When it comes to matters of
intelligence and propaganda – it’s very hard to
discern truth from fiction. But no one can deny
that Syria was a very stable country until we
decided to go in all guns blazing. We’re not
bringing democracy to the world – that’s the sound
of imperialism baby.

Adams Oshiomhole Begins Plan To Weed Out
Unqualified Teachers...
Adams Oshiomhole in his statement Said (he would
rather lose his job than “keep it and fail to use it to
secure the future”.)
While commending the Union of teachers in Edo
State for protecting its interests and supporting
him during the elections that made him governor.
“Edo State government will not retain in its
employment, anyone whose suitability in a
classroom has not been ascertained,” he warned.
This is coming after majority of the teachers in the
State failed to turn up at the assessment test
conducted to determine the training needs of the
teachers. Oshiomhole further promised to forge
ahead in his quest for better education for Edo
students as “leadership requires courage to do
what you are convinced about particularly when it
is informed by the good of the people”.
Appearing on Sunrise, Oshiomhole explained that
the test was in a bid to assess the teachers and
determine what kind of training they would need to
be able to deliver their best. However, “the unions
have made it a big issue”, he noted.
He stressed that the educational foundation laid for
Nigerian students will determine the future of the
nation, adding that even “the poorest of the poor
must have at least a sound basic education, which
in Nigeria we call Universal Basic Education.”
He explained that the reason why his
administration grants free education for students
up to the secondary level is to give the foundation
to build their lives on.
He complained of the State’s inability to boast of its
teachers despite the investments made in building
schools and ensuring that children have access to
education at no cost. According to the governor, a
student had complained of teacher’s absence
during school hours, while he was on a visit to one
of the schools in the State.
Teachers had been absent from classes on the
average of two out of five days while many did not
resume at the specified time.
Despite his stern warning to the teachers,
Oshiomohle expressed hope that those unwilling to
take the assessment test would change their
minds after seeing how those who did are treated.
“Some people have done the test. We are waiting
to see the results. By the way we treat them; I
hope others would recognise that this whole thing
is not about punishment.”

20 Boko Haram suspects killed in Abuja DSS attack

20 Boko Haram suspects killed in Abuja DSS attack

…security beefed up around Presidential Villa, Abuja
By Soni Daniel
No fewer than 20 Boko Haram detainees have been
shot dead in a shoutout that ensued this morning at
the Department of State Security Service in the
Asokoro a district of Abuja.
Vanguard learnt that the shoutout erupted when
some of the suspected terrorists attempted to free
their members and leave the detention facility,
which is by the precincts of the Presidential Villa.
Trouble started around 6am during the normal
handing over and taking over of duties by DSS
detainees’ handlers.
A competent source said that as soon as one
handlers opened the gate leading to the cell where
the detainees were being kept, ten suspected
terrorists rushed out, snatched the handler’s rifle
and used it to shoot him.
Seeing the attack, some DSS handlers are reported
to have retreated so as not to be killed by the
rampaging suspected terrorists.
The source said after shooting the first handler, the
ten suspected terrorists began to escape into
different locations within the massive security
compound.
Alarmed by the effrontery of the suspected
terrorists, the DSS quickly deployed its men to quell
the uprising, resulting in heavy shooting that
claimed the lives of some of the suspects.
Many DSS operatives and Boko Haram detainees
were also injured in the ensuing stampede.
The shot DSS operative, whose name could not be
immediately ascertained, was immediately rushed
to an undisclosed hospital. A source said the shot
operative was in a fatal state but had not died.
It was learnt that the DSS, which is highly
embarrassed by the incident, had begun
investigation into why the detainees handler decided
to go and open the cell gate alone without being
accompanied by others, as is the standard practice.
“The whole episode occurred around 6:30 am and
7am on Sunday during the normal handing over and
takeover of detainees.
“The standard rule is that you cannot go alone to
open the gate leading to the detainees’ cell but as
soon as the man opened the gate, he was attacked
and he tried to run away and was shot.
“The shot operative has been taken to hospital,” the
source said.
The uprising led to the deployment of soldiers to the
DSS headquarters and around the Presidential Villa.
Commuters and vehicles passing through the Aso a
Drive, were searched by armed soldiers and DSS
operatives.
Marylyn Ogar, the Spokeswoman for the DSS,
confirmed the attempted jailbreak, which she said
had been stalled by security agents.
She said, “What happened was that the suspects’
handlers went to feed the detainees here but
suddenly they attacked him with their handcuffs,
disarmed him and started shooting.
“The military was quickly called in before they could
do any harm and that is responsible for the
shootings you heard.
“It was an attempted jailbreak but it has been
brought under control.”

According to the reports, residents of the nearby

coming out of the SSS headquarters or the
presidential villa.
One of the resident said, “We don’t know what’s
going on here. Heavy gunfire has been coming from
the direction of the villa. The entire area has been
barricaded. SSS operatives are scampering out of
their headquarters as the gunshots get louder.
“Soldiers are now heading in the direction of the
SSS headquarters with Armoured Personnel
Carriers. Those of us living around here have been
asked to stay indoors and not venture out.”
Reacting to the incidence, spokesperson of the SSS,
Marilyn Ogar, said the gunshots were triggered by
attempted jailbreak at the Service’s headquarters by
suspected members of the extremist Boko Haram
sect.
She said, “What happened was that the suspects’

disarmed him and started shooting.

Horror in Ibadan again! Cleric caught slaughtering woman on

Horror in Ibadan again! Cleric caught
slaughtering woman

BY OLA  AJAYI, Ibadan
Barely one week after corpses and virtually dead
victims were uncovered in a kidnappers den in
Ibadan, Oyo State capital, a man described as a
Muslim cleric, Isa Salaudeen, was, allegedly, caught
slaughtering a woman, identified as Chiwendu
Nkwocha, in his room at Ori Eru, Idikan area of the
city.
But, before he slaughtered  his victim, the cry of the
woman reportedly attracted neighbours who came
to her aid.
The suspect was said to have cut deep into the
neck of the woman who was  rushed to the
University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
Eyewitnesses narrated that it was the persistent
call for help from the victim that prompted them to
run to the scene.
The suspect was said to have pretended performing
evil exorcism on her when he suddenly took up a
knife and started cutting her neck.
The first knife the attacker used, as Sunday
Vanguard gathered, was blunt and the suspect
replaced it with a  dagger.
But, before much harm could be done, help came
the way of the woman.
An eye witness  said, “People heard the lady’s
shouts from inside the house and kicked the door
open only to find that the “Alfa” had pinned her to
the floor and was already cutting her neck. The
“Alfa”  ran out of the house when the first person
broke in. The woman’s neck was already cut.
The head would have been totally cut off if help
hadn’t come”.
A resident of the area, Taiwo Agunlofi, said angry
youths in the area caught the suspect after trying
to escape.
“Were it not for timely intervention, the Muslim
cleric would have been lynched by angry youths,”
he added.
It was further learnt that the victim was brought to
Salaudeen by her boyfriend for “spiritual cleansing”.
Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olabisi
Ilobanafor, confirmed the incident, saying the
suspect was already in custody and had made
useful statements.

Can 10 million jobs be created in this economy in 12 months?

Can 10 million jobs be created in this
economy in 12 months?
am in business news
*No! Yes! Experts disagree
BY UDEME CLEMENT
The pronouncement by the Minister of Finance and
the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr (Mrs)
Ngozi Okonjoi Iweala that 10million jobs  would be
created, in the economy in 2014 has generated
divergent views.
While some economic experts said that the time-
line is not realistic, others expressed optimism that
government can achieve the target, if the economy
is diversified into non-oil export sectors like
agriculture, manufacturing, industry as well as
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The experts
opinions:
Government needs creative and dynamic
entrepreneurship to create jobs-Registrar,
International Logistics and Administration, Mr. Mark
Iloh:
Unemployment and poverty are among the major
challenges facing Nigeria and other developing
economies today. We need creative and dynamic
entrepreneurship techniques to tackle poverty and
create jobs. Dynamic entrepreneurs who can take
risk in productive industries rather than commerce
will play a major role in promoting economic growth
and sustainable development now and in the long-
run.
For a country to develop,, there must be high-risk
takers who can make large scale investments in
industries to bring direct impact on the growth rate
of the economy, and not only engaging in economic
activities that can multiply wealth within the short-
run, without actually registering its effect on growth
and job creation.
“In developing countries for instance, investors are
mostly found in commerce, buying, selling and
importing products to make fast money, without
taking the risk to build factories and invest in
manufacturing industries, which are economic
activities capable of creating jobs for the masses.
This is as a result of poor attitude to high risk taking
and innovation.
Today, few industries in the developing countries
are owned by foreigners. The economic implication
is that the expected benefits of these foreign firms
can not be registered in the economies where they
operate, as owners interest are at variance with the
host country and profits are repatriated back to
their countries of origin.
The vicious cycle of poverty is another challenge
that must be addressed pragmatically. Poverty is
another major factor hindering growth in developing
countries. The less developed countries are caught
up in the web of poverty. This is due to low per
capita income, which leads to low demands, low
savings, which leads to low investments and in turn
low capital formation, which paves the way for low
productivity.
The resultant effect of low productivity is low
income and this runs continuously, except there is
a conscious effort to break this cycle, development
will continue to be a mirage. For us to achieve
relative full employment, the issue of human capital
must also be addressed. For example. we need
good education and skill-training necessary to
make the youths more productive.
Government should diversify the economy into non-
oil export sectors – a former Chairman, Agriculture,
Non-oil Export Trade Group, Lagos Chambers of
Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture
(LACCIMA), Dr. Godwin Oyedele Oyediji: Today,
over 50 per cent of our population engage in small
scale agriculture across the country. We need
modern and large scale agriculture like what
obtains in advanced economies to create jobs.
As such, government needs to diversify the
economy into agriculture, manufacturing and non-
oil export sectors to enhance capacity utilisation.
This is imperative because resources in non-oil
sectors, particularly agriculture can boost
sustainable growth, if they are adequately
harnessed. Also, various economic activities in
agriculture, which include planting, harvesting and
transportation of farm produce among other
activities can create jobs, not only for the youths,
but for other people in Nigeria.
For us to create sufficient jobs, other issues like
human capital development, trade and investments
in the real sector must be addressed to enhance
optimum growth. These are important issues that
are relevant to economic transformation agenda of
the Federal Government.
Aside from job creation, agriculture must be given
the desired attention to ensure food security for the
country. All over the world, agriculture is an
important sector because it allows sustainable
growth of the economy. We can also achieve that in
Nigeria, if the sector is well funded. We will derive
numerous economic benefits in turning attention to
agriculture, because it will discourage the
budgetary system that centers on revenue from
crude oil, which we do no have control over the
price and demand from the international market.
I have said this before and will still repeat that, If
adequately funded, the sector can create about
500.000 jobs annually. The reason being that
agriculture has short and long term economic
benefits, which are needed in the rural and urban
areas. Looking at the aggregate economic analysis,
about 70 million Nigerians are into agriculture
currently. These figures include direct and indirect
labour work-force in the sector. T
his is because employment generation in this
sector is often classified under skilled, semi-skilled
and unskilled labour. This implies that with the
population of over 160million people, agriculture can
take 50 per cent of the entire work-force of Nigeria,
noting fully well that 50 per cent of Nigeria’s
population are youths from 15 years and above.
Agriculture can also generate revenue as additional
source of income-flow in the economy”.
Government should boost industrial growth to
create jobs –  Mrs. Gloria Joseph, operator of small
enterprise at Oshodi Market, Lagos: Creation of jobs
in a developing economy like Nigeria with a
population of over 160million requires massive
industrial growth. The truth is that government
alone does not have to capacity to create jobs for
every citizen, but if an enabling business
environment is provided for industries to spring up,
the unemployment rate, which currently stands at
about 24 per cent can reduce drastically.
Recently, the Federal Government launched the
Nigeria Industrial Revolution Plan (NIRP) and the
National Enterprise Development Programme
(NEDEP), aimed at boosting the annual revenue for
Nigerian manufacturers up to N5 trillion.
Government must ensure effective implementation
of this Plan and close monitoring in order to
stimulate industrial development and job creation
for the masses.
President Goodluck Jonathan, explained during the
launch that NEDEP is a comprehensive
industrialisation programme based on key areas
where our economy has competitive advantage in
agriculture, solid minerals, oil and gas among other
areas, where Nigeria can be the number one in
Africa and top 10 globally. For me, this is a good
Plan, capable of creating thousands of jobs, if
adequately implemented to achieve the intended
purpose.

Sophia Chikere explodes: How I lost my marriage!

Sophia Chikere explodes: How I lost my
marriage!
in entertainment
*Tchidi Chikere & Nuella Njubigbo
Sophia and Tchidi

By Ayo Onikoyi
In 2012, the marriage between Nollywood actress,
Sophia Chikere and movie director Tchidi Chikere,
reportedly crashed like a pack of badly arranged
cards. But long before the crash, there were several
reports, that another actress, Nuella Njubigbo, was
dating the movie director. In fact, some reports
openly suggested Nuella was the reason Tchidi sent
Sophia packing.
Since then, rumours were rife that both Tchidi and
Nuella found another haven in each other’s arms
until a couple of days back when the news broke
that Tchidi would be having a traditional marriage
with Nuella on Friday, March 28, 2014, two days
ago. From all available information the wedding held
and both Nuella and Tchidi are now husband and
wife.
As true as that is, no one ever believed the director
was actually going to marry Nuella because reports
of their romance were something people received
with levity and oftentimes, like a joke, that could
only amuse and be forgotten. So, when the news of
their impending marriage broke, it was received like
another joke, especially, when the two parties
involved, neither came out to deny nor confirm
anything.
Until the silence was broken by Nuella on Thursday
in a release sent to several media houses. She
confirmed that she would indeed, be getting married
to the movie director, saying she and Tchidi never
crossed the lines as friends and that the talk about
her being pregnant for Tchidi was mere rumour.
“My heart is remarkably at peace with this decision,
and I am willing to take this leap of faith which every
married woman has taken. Where this love will lead
me I cannot say, I am not God, but, I have hope,
faith and believe that it will lead me to a good place.
Every one of us in this life deserves a chance to be
happy. I am taking my own chance” she said.
But there was someone who found all she said not
only distasteful but a whole lot of baloney. That
person is Sophia Chikere, who has claimed she is
still legally married to the movie director.
Nuella released her statement on Thursday night
and Sophia was quick to follow Friday morning.
Hear her:I swear with my life, my children’s life and
everything I have, that Nuella started dating my
husband before he left the marriage. But because I
respect my husband a lot, the father of my three
boys, I have kept calm and won’t talk and comment
because there is no need to wash your dirty linen in
public. Tchidi is a wonderful husband and father and
will always be.
But if Nuella opened her mouth and said that she
wasn’t dating my husband before he left the
marriage, if she’s lying, let her not see anything
good in life and if I’m lying, let me not see anything
good in life.
This question is for Nuella: Nuella, since you broke
my marriage, have I called you? Have I looked for
you? No! After what you did, you still have the right
to lie and say you were not in the picture? You want
to deceive the public? But you can’t deceive God.
You put what God has joined together asunder and
made my children cry to bed every night.
I keep calm and you have the audacity to say that
you weren’t dating my husband when we were
together? Let the wrath of God be your portion. Now
that you have taken my hubby and you are getting
married to him like I heard, are you happy? Are you
fulfilled? Let the Almighty God fight for me and judge
you.
Let vengeance be of God who knows everything and
sees everything. My God is able and he’s not
asleep. He sees. He knows. And he feels what I
feel. He is the Lord who cares for me and my kids.
As for my husband, he is a wonderful father and I
will never ever disrespect him”.

The true face of horror in Ibadan! Bow, knife expose herdsmen as suspects

The true face of horror in Ibadan! Bow,
knife expose herdsmen as suspects

By Ola Ajayi, Ibadan
Everybody who got to the ‘evil forest’ in Ibadan, Oyo
State capital where hundreds of people have been
killed by kidnappers was stunned to
speechlessness seeing the number of decomposed
bodies of victims.
Call the place the Soka house of horror, a den of
killers, the place of skull, the evil shrine, the valley
of dry bones, killers’ hideouts, you will not be
wrong. No adjective or description is too much to
express the horror there. In the isolated bush, life is
hellish, brutish, loutish and nasty. It is distasteful,
barbaric and fetish. It is better read and heard than
seen.
If you go there once, you could find it difficult to
have your meal. Flies of different sizes and colours
were feasting on the bodies. The bodies were in
different positions. The odour was unbearable. The
land brings to mind David’s statement when he
heard about the death of his bosom friend,
Jonathan, “Tell it not in Gath or publish it in the
streets of Ashkelon; lest the daughters of the
Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the
uncircumcised triumph”.
Chief Isiaka Bello Olupoju, a community leader in
the area who was not sure of the exact number of
people killed, put the figure at about 120 persons.
Apart from the atrocities committed in the den, the
incident raises a serious security concern.
Alleged connivance
It is indefensible for residents in the area to claim
ignorance of the activities of the kidnappers. The
stench oozing from the decomposed bodies was a
strong indication that nobody in the area could claim
ignorance.
A woman, who spoke in the presence of Governor
Abiola Ajimobi, said the matter had been reported at
Sanyo Police Station several times. She said some
policemen either said the place had been set aside
to take care of the destitute who had become a
nuisance in the city or it didn’t fall under their
jurisdiction.
Another source said they always saw some people
moving up and down particularly herdsmen. He said
the police should investigate the herdsmen. To fuel
suspicion that the herdsmen might know something
about the  killings there, a knife and a bow
commonly used by cattle rearers were found close
to one of the decomposed bodies. The knife was
still looking fresh as at Tuesday indicating it was
just dropped there.
Besides, a company populated by foreigners where
the vehicles or motorcycles conveying the victims
always pass should know something about the
isolated bush. The building of the company is tall
and so should afford the persons staying inside to
have a glimpse of what is going on in the bush.
Arbitrary arrests and shooting
Sunday Vanguard saw the body of a woman
identified simply as Kafayat, pregnant and said to be
a mother of three, who was allegedly killed by an
overzealous security man during the protest that
followed the uncovering of the bush. She was said
to have left her wares at Agodi Gate where she
operated a shop to have a glimpse of the horror
when she was felled by stray bullet.
Apart from seven suspects earlier arrested as
confirmed by the Oyo State Police Public Relations
Officer, SP Olabisi Ilobanafor, three other suspects
were rounded up in the area. Sunday Vanguard
gathered from a security man that a mob made up
of youths, angered that the police failed to uncover
the bush of horror, was coming to set the Sanyo
Police Station ablaze.
This prompted policemen to guard the station.
Anybody coming from the Lagos end of the
expressway towards Iwo Road without an Identity
card was picked up as a suspect. An Okada man,
who proved difficult for two policemen trying to pin
him down, was beaten blue and black as about
eight policemen descended on him with gun butts
and boots.
He was thereafter arrested. Before Ajimobi got to
the scene, it was gathered that five more bodies
had been taken away and also a boy who was
trying to dig the hall to locate some of his missing
relatives was reportedly shot by security men
guarding the place. When arraigned in court one
day after, the court could not find any cogent
reason why the suspects should be remanded in
custody. They were released on bail in the sum of
N100, 000 each.
How the den was discovered
After several failed attempts to find their missing
ones, commercial motorcyclists, popularly called
Okada riders, mobilized in hundreds and stormed
the kidnappers’ den. On getting there, they raised
the alarm seeing numerous bodies of victims.
Ajimobi revokes right to land
When Governor Ajimobi got to the scene, the crowd
was unruly. He had to talk tough to get the people to
listen to him. He said, “As from today, the state
government has revoked the land from its owners.
We would dig all the land and expose any victims
hidden in the ground. God would expose them. We,
into whose hands you have entrusted the
governance of this state through your votes, God
will use us to punish the culprits”.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed
Indabawa, assured the crowd that he would do
everything to get all the suspects.
Survivors in hospital
Doctors at Adeoyo State Hospital, Ibadan, where
victims who survived the ‘evil forest’ horror were
admitted for treatment, did not allow journalists’
access to the survivors. After much pressure, the
hospital officials and security men there, however,
allowed some newsmen to have a brief chat with
the survivors but they did not allow anybody to take
pictures.
The survivors, who identified themselves as Nafiu
Shittu, Michael Ola, Mrs. Titi Adeniyi, nee Dokpesi
and Wale Atoyebi, gave indications that the
kidnappers, who operated in the bush, capitalized
on the urban renewal initiative of the Oyo
government to arrest some hawkers under the
pretext that they violated the state environmental
law even though they did not have the authority of
government to do it. Shittu recalled how he was
kidnapped. He said he was selling concoction at
Agodi Gate when he was accosted by some men
who forced him into a waiting car.
Titi Adeniyi-nee Dokpesi said she was forced into a
vehicle in front of her house and later found herself
in the den.
She said, “I am from the compound of the late Baba
Awolowo located in Oke Bola area of Ibadan. Some
people kidnapped me while I was sitting in front of
our house. Nobody was around then. My people
were in Lagos. They said I was wanted somewhere
and that they came to arrest me. They then took me
away in their vehicle. Later, I found myself in that
forest”. The survivor said she could not tell if people
were being killed in the forest by the kidnappers.  ”I
don’t know whether people were being killed or
women giving birth. Where they kept us was where I
used to be. Once I covered my head with my dress,
I would sleep off”.
As if that was not enough, three human tongues
were allegedly found on three men at Oni and Sons
Hospital area of Ibadan in a cellophane bag. After
being mobbed, the men were handed over to the
police.

Yahoo Plus Boys Now Using Human Parts
For Charms To Defraud Victims; Ex-Internet
Fraudster Confesses
Confession Of A Yahoo Plus Boy “We Use
Human Parts To Make Charms To Defraud
Victims”
The war against Cyber crime otherwise
known as yahoo yahoo, by security agents in
Nigeria may take a long time to be won, if the
confession of a 25-year-old alleged internet
fraudster is anything to go by.
The suspect who simply gave his name as
Chidi, disclosed that what people used to
know as yahoo yahoo, a term used to
defraud unsuspecting and gullible
persons,especially foreigners, through the
internet, has gone beyond mere
conversation and emotional chat.
He disclosed that yahoo plus is the trend in
cybercrime world today, as operators have
resorted to using fetish means to hypnotize
their victims in order to get what they want
from them.
In this interview with Crime Guard, Chidi said
he ventured into cyber crime eight years
ago, after several attempts to gain admission
into the university failed.
Rather than venting his frustration on the
appropriate channel, he chosed rather, to
unleash it on undeserving individuals,by
defrauding them of their hard earned money.
Unfortunately, five years down the line, he
said he could only get himself a Nigerian
used vehicle.
As you read this piece, Chidi said he had
turned a new leaf ,begging those he had
defrauded to forgive him.
His sudden change of mind according to him,
followed a startling discovery that human
parts were being used to prepare concoction
that would hypnotise victims.
Hear him: “ You may not believe me but it is
true. Those who are into yahoo plus use
charm to hypnotize their victims. This is
because the ordinary yahoo no longer yield
the desired result. Our targets are getting
wiser and no longer fall prey .
“When I noticed that I was not making any
headway in yahoo business, I decided to
inquire from some of my friends who were in
same business but were living better off.
To my surprise, I was made to understand
that the in-thing was yahoo plus. I decided to
embark on a journey to Benin Republic in the
company of Chuks, Odinakachukwu and
Chionye. There,we met a herbalist who told
us to buy three live cocks and other items
which he used to prepare some concoction
for us. After that, we were asked to stand in
front of the shrine, while the herbalist chanted
incantations that would enhance our success
in yahoo plus.
“As we left for Nigeria, we were given some
concoction which the herbalist said were
prepared with human parts. We were asked
to put the concoction in our mouths
whenever we wanted to type or discuss with
our victims.
But when I got home, I became restive. I
remembered my mum’s admonition never to
go into anything fetish but to serve the
almighty God. I kept the concoction away
and watched as events unfolded.
Three months later, one of us Chuks, made
3000 dollars .But Odinakachuckwu lost his
younger brother who went to use his laptop.
The instruction of the herbalist was that no
one except him, should use his laptop. Just
as we were smarting from that, Chionye lost
his girlfriend.
“I decided to quit at that point because I did
not want anyone to die on my account. I am
therefore appealing to those I have
defrauded through yahoo yahoo to forgive
me”, he stated.
When operatives of the Special Fraud Unit of
the Nigeria Police were contacted, they
described Chidi’s claim as untrue , saying
the law does not believe in vodoo.
An operative who spoke on condition of
anonymity said the Unit had arrested several
internet fraudsters, with their loot refunded to
victims.

My close shave with death after burying intimate friend

My close shave with death after burying
intimate friend – Imansuangbon
By Sam Eyoboka
Barrister Kenneth Imansuangbon (aka Rice Man) is
the proprietor and Chairman of Abuja-based Pace
Setters Group of Schools, lawyer, businessman and
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship
aspirant in Edo State. He spoke in Benin-City
shortly after a thanksgiving service at the Rev. Dr.
Felix Omobude-pastored New Covenant Gospel
Church to thank God for saving his life in a motor
accident last November 13. Excerpts:
Congratulations for surviving an accident late last
year. Did you have any premonition?
Yes. I knew somehow that there were evil persons
who were not happy with what I was doing for the
masses. I felt somehow that they were not happy
with the good I am doing, like sharing rice, giving
scholarships, sponsoring essay competitions,
football competitions in Edo and across the country,
reaching out to widows and orphans and so on. I
knew that some people don’t like such good things.
But there are also some people that love it.
Each time I do
such things, it is
because of my
faith in God. The
background I
came from is
very poor. I lost
my father in
1983. From that
point in time,
mama (his
mother) toiled
day and night to
provide for our
needs. Mama
trained me in black clothes (mourning attires). I am
the first of six children. My mother, Elizabeth
Imansuangbon, is a wonderful woman; very resilient
and courageous.
When my father died, she didn’t abandon us to
marry another man. She was very beautiful. She
stood by me. I actually benefited from the sympathy
of the public. So, that is why you see me giving. I
can give my knickers, shoes and even pants and go
naked without batting an eyelid. It is in my DNA to
have sympathy for the poor. People think it is
because of politics that I feed people, but if they
know where I am coming from, they would know
that nothing can be farther from the truth. My
guiding principle is that politics should have face of
humanity.
When I give, I give selflessly; even when I give in
pain. There are certain giving you do, even when
you don’t have. But you’re constrained to give
because you could see the weakness and begging
of the people with their eyes and body language. So,
you’re left with no option than to bend over
backward to give. At times, I feel pain. It is not easy
to give. At times, I feel, this money that I am giving,
why don’t I keep it for my children? Or why don’t I
use it buy big cars, expensive wristwatches and
build a big house? This house I live in (in Benin) is a
rented apartment.
What are the lessons you have learnt from that
accident?
That life is vanity. It’s like a vapour. November 14, I
would have died were it not for the mercies of God. I
must say that as a result of the accident, two things
have happened. I have taken two decisions. As a
result of this accident, I would hold on to God the
more, serve Him more than ever, serve the
community and the people. I will serve Edo people,
serve Nigeria, serve the world.
Let me also add that the accident has brought unity
to the state. It has synergised both PDP and APC.
We should take politics beyond hatred. Politics is
not hate. If you hate because you’re a politician,
then, you’re not a human being. Politics is love; and
that was demonstrated by Edo people the day I
arrived from the overseas treatment. Over 20,000
people were at the airport to welcome me.
Everywhere was jampacked. For four hours, they
waited-old, young, men, women, children. From the
airport, they trekked with me down to my house (at
GRA). It is only love that can make anybody do that
kind of a thing. Those who I never knew prayed for
me. Muslims prayed for me. Imams prayed for me.
Christians prayed for me. Everybody prayed for me.
What was the thought that came to your mind when
you lost your dad?
His death was a huge shock. I felt that it was the
end of the world for me, that I was finished. I
thought there was no hope left. Immediately the
doctor pronounced him dead, I felt hopeless. But
after his burial, I knew that I had to hold on to my
creator. God gave me hope. God inspired me. He
fired me up. And the Edo people and Nigerians as a
whole fired me up. His death was also a tonic for
success.
You rose from rag to riches, grass to grace. What
was the turning point?
From Ewohinmi, my mother would come to Benin
when I was in ICE, wearing black clothes. I am
sorry to say this, part of our culture is unfriendly
and unkind to woman. If a woman loses her
spouse, for three years, she is made to wear black
clothes. She would come to Benin in her black
clothes to give me foodstuff and other necessities. I
knew that the only way was to succeed. I would tell
her, ‘Mama, don’t worry. If it pleases the God
almighty, the end would justify the means’. Today, I
am grateful to God and to my mother. Also, I have a
very great wife, Kate. She is like a bulwark. She is
my brain. God gave me a good partner.
Whatever I am today, she is very instrumental to it.
And she is a God-fearing woman.
What attracted you to your wife?
Quite honestly, I don’t deserve the wife I got. Yes, I
wanted a God-fearing woman, a woman that would
love the poor. My wife said to me that when she
was young, she used to dream that she was helping
the poor on the street, sharing rice, noodles and all
what not. And today, that’s what we’re doing.
In Edo State, they call you the Rice Man because of
you philanthropy. You’re are also a lawyer and
politician. What drives you?
What is dear to me is that I am Kenneth
Imansuangbon. I am an ordinary man. I am like any
ordinary Nigerian on the street. But what drives me
on is that one day, we would realize a country of
our dream, where everyone would have job, peace,
security, good water system, good educational
system; a country where we would not emphasise
tribe, but that which strengthens us.
Where there would be justice, fairness and equity.
That is my hope for the country. That is actually
what drives me on. Each time people ask: ‘Ken, why
are you in politics?’ I am in politics because I want
a better nation. I want a better life for my fellow
Nigerians. What I have seen on the streets of New
York, what I have seen at the Heathrow Airport,
what I have seen in Dubai, what is happening in
South Africa can happen in Nigeria, if we have the
men with good heart in government, if we have
people in government that would see themselves as
servants of the people rather than as the Lords of
the Manor.
Every chance we have in government is given by
God. God would ask questions. Life is very frail and
temporal. On November 13, 2013, I was coming
from Akure where I went for the burial of my very
good friend, Deji Falae. Deji had died. Back home, I
was almost gone. But the finger of God stopped
death and Satan, and gave me life. God said, ‘No,
touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm.’
That was what saved me. And because of that
safety, Edo people are together now. The safety God
granted me has bonded the two dominant political
parties (APC and PDP) in the state. The governor
and I are friends now. We’re brothers. Everybody is
one now. The accident that almost claimed my life
has unified Edo people. What makes Edo strong is
not PDP. What makes Edo strong is not APC.
What makes Edo strong is not the rich oil or
vegetation in the state. What makes Edo strong is
the spirit of forgiveness, the spirit of unity, the spirit
that I can criticize the Comrade Governor, and the
next day, he can come to my thanksgiving. That’s
love. What strengthens us is that the Comrade
Governor knows that I can be the next governor.
That he can hand over the key of Government
House to me. And he said during my thanksgiving
that God and the people would determine who would
be the governor (of Edo State) after him in 2016. To
quote him, ‘It might be Kenneth, it might be
Imansuangbon.’ He’s checking out, I am checking
in.
Rumour has it that you weep each time you travel
abroad. Why?
It is no rumour. The first time I got to the US, I was
crying. I wept. The American Customs office asked
why I was crying. I told him I was crying because I
didn’t know why my country, Nigeria, was not like
this (US). Where did we miss it as a people? That
was actually what triggered my interest in politics.
That is the reason I said no matter the hazards in
politics, some of us are ready to live and die for
what we believe in to make a change in our
country. This change is coming. This change will
come.
